Sailboat Sites wants everyone to be able to use our website, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, voice control, magnification, or other assistive technology.
Our standard
We aim for sailboatsites.com to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. WCAG is the widely used international standard for web accessibility. Level AA is the level most organizations work toward.
We hold the websites we build for clients to the same standard. Every package we sell is built to WCAG 2.1 AA.
How we test
Before we publish changes to this site, we check it in these ways:
- An automated accessibility scan. It flags common problems, such as images without text descriptions, missing labels, and low color contrast.
- Keyboard use. We move through every page using only a keyboard. We check that everything can be reached and used, and that you can always see which item is selected.
- Color contrast. We measure contrast between text and its background. Normal text meets 4.5 to 1, and large text meets 3 to 1. Buttons and focus outlines meet 3 to 1.
- Zoom and small screens. We check that pages still work when zoomed to 200%, and on a screen 320 pixels wide without scrolling sideways.
- Motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, our animations turn off.
Automated tools catch only some problems, which is why we also check by hand. We re-check the site when we make significant changes.
Known limitations
We are not aware of any accessibility problems on this site right now. If you find one, please tell us.
Third-party pages. Some pages we link to are run by other companies, such as the Stripe checkout page. We do not control those pages. If one of them gives you trouble, contact us and we will help you complete your purchase another way.
