This policy explains what personal information Sailboat Sites ("we," "us") collects through sailboatsites.com and while working with clients. It also covers how we use and share that information, and the choices you have.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- When you email us: your name, email address, and whatever you write, such as your business name, phone number, or details about your project.
- When you book a call with us (through the booking calendar on our site): your name, email address, the time you pick, and anything you add to the booking. Cal.com, our scheduling provider, runs that calendar and collects these details under its own privacy policy.
- When you buy (through Stripe checkout): your name, email address, business name, billing address, and phone number if you provide it, plus the answers to any short questions checkout asks about your project, such as your current website address. Stripe collects your card details directly. We never see or store your full card number.
- When you fill out our intake form (after you buy): information about your business, such as its name, address, services, hours, and prices; your brand materials, photos, and text; links to your social media and to websites you like; and the contact details of the people we should work with.
- When we work on your site: our emails with you, your change requests, and any account access you grant us.
Information collected automatically
- Analytics. Our site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count visits. It records things like the page you visited, the website that sent you, your approximate location (country, region, and city), and your type of device, operating system, and browser. It does not use cookies to identify you. Instead, it counts visitors using a code created from each visit, and that code is discarded after 24 hours. We see only totals, not information about any one person. We use these totals to understand which pages are useful and to improve the site.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. It uses this to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Business contact information from public sources
We may collect business contact details, such as a business name, public email address, and phone number, from a business's own website or public listings, so we can contact that business about our services. Every marketing email we send includes a way to opt out, and we honor opt-outs.
2. Cookies
A cookie is a small file your browser stores for a website.
- Our site does not use advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner.
- Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout pages to process payments and prevent fraud. See Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
- Cal.com runs the booking calendar on our site. Nothing from Cal.com loads until you click to show the calendar. Once it loads, Cal.com may set its own cookies inside it, for example for security, to remember your settings, and to record how you reached Cal.com. See Cal.com's privacy policy at cal.com/privacy.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- answer your questions;
- process your purchase and send receipts;
- design, build, launch, host, and support your website;
- provide the monthly plans you subscribe to;
- send you messages about your project or account;
- contact businesses about our services, as described in section 1;
- improve our website and services;
- prevent fraud and keep our systems secure; and
- meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
If we ever send you marketing emails, every one includes an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for targeted advertising, and our site has no advertising pixels.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the business. They may use it only to provide their service to us.

We may also share information:
- if the law requires it, such as a valid court order;
- to protect our rights, our clients, or the public from fraud or harm; or
- if our business is sold or merged, in which case the new owner must follow this policy.
Other parties that collect information across websites. We do not let advertising networks or other parties collect personal information about you across websites through our site. Stripe's checkout pages are run by Stripe under its own privacy policy.
The booking calendar on our site is run by Cal.com under its own privacy policy, and it loads only when you click to show it.
5. How long we keep it
- Messages that do not lead to a purchase: up to 2 years.
- Client project records (intake answers, files, emails): for as long as you are a client, plus 3 years.
- Payment and tax records: 7 years, or longer if tax and accounting laws require it.
- Analytics: our visit counts are totals that do not identify you.
After these periods, we delete the information or remove anything that identifies you.
6. Your choices and rights
Everyone (including under California's Online Privacy Protection Act, CalOPPA):
- See and correct your information. Email hello@sailboatsites.com to ask what personal information we hold about you, or to correct it.
- Delete your information. You can ask us to delete it. We will, unless we need to keep it for a legal or tax reason, or to finish a project you are paying for.
- Stop marketing emails. Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or email us.
We will answer your request within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.
California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA). The CCPA applies only to for-profit businesses that meet at least one of these tests:
- gross annual revenue of $26,625,000 or more (the figure in effect since January 1, 2025);
- buying, selling, or sharing the personal information of 100,000 or more California residents or households; or
- earning 50% or more of annual revenue from selling or sharing personal information.
Sailboat Sites is a small business that meets none of these tests, so the CCPA does not currently apply to us. Even so, we will honor requests to know, correct, or delete your personal information using the contact details below, and we do not sell or share personal information.
7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal. Our site does not track you across other websites and does not use advertising or tracking cookies, so it works the same way whether or not your browser sends one of these signals.
8. Children
Our services are for businesses. Our website is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We protect personal information with reasonable safeguards. For example:
- our website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS);
- card payments are handled by Stripe, so card numbers never reach us; and
- only the people who need client information to do the work can access it.
No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send us passwords, card numbers, Social Security numbers, or patient health information by email. If we need access to one of your accounts, we will ask you to invite us as a user where the service allows it.
10. Medical and health providers
When we build a site for a medical or health provider, we do not collect, receive, or store protected health information (PHI). The sites we build for these clients do not include patient intake forms, health questions, or patient chat. Please do not send us any patient information.
11. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold about our clients, we will also email them.
